My 2021 Goals & How I Goal Set

I absolutely love goal setting and I was so excited to plan out this year’s goals. I wanted to give you a look at my goals, as well as how I go about goal setting for the new year. I use a similar process every month when I create goals throughout the year too.

How I plan my goals

I love to have a long journaling session at the end of the year to journal and release what I learned the previous 12 months. Then I have a session about my manifestations for the coming year. I typically do these as separate sessions so I can really focus on releasing and manifesting. I typically light candles, set the mood, and have a few meditations to get in the right mindset. Then I’ll go into the journal prompts.

Journal Prompts

Here are the journal prompts I used in both my sessions this week.

Releasing 2020

  1. What lessons did I learn in 2020?

  2. Describe 2020 in 3 words.

  3. What are you proud of?

  4. What were the lows from this year? How did you get through it?

  5. What do you want to bring into 2021?

  6. What do you want to release in 2020?

  7. How are you ending this year? What emotions are coming up?

  8. What did you learn about your needs and boundaries?

  9. How have I changed this year?

  10. How do I want to remember 2020?

2021 Manifesting

  1. Where do I see myself in 6 months?

  2. What is holding me back from living my dream life?

  3. How do I define success?

  4. Imagine my perfect day. Detail it.

  5. What point of my life was I the happiest?

  6. What big things am I manifesting for 2021?

  7. What small things am I manifesting for 2021?

  8. At the end of 2021, what is the one thing I want to have accomplished?

  9. What is my highest self? Envision her.

  10. How will you get to your highest self in 2021?

Intentions and Goals

My journaling sessions are very high-level on how I want to live my life. Once I have my journaling sessions, I’ll use that to guide my intentions. These are starting to be more narrow and really tailored to achieving my highest self. Intentions do not have measurable tracks to them, they are general statements on how I want to live in the next year. Once I have my intentions, I move into my goals, which are measurable breakdowns of how I will achieve those intentions. I categorize these goals by the different pillars of my manifestations. Typically these are: Life, Health, Career, Blog, Relationship, Financial. This year Jake and I worked on setting some goals for our Marriage too! Here’s an example:

I am manifesting health in 2021. My intention is to prioritize my health. Build stamina and strength. Gain confidence. Crave vegetables. My goals to achieve this is to complete Whole30 in January, complete BBG in January-March, and run 1 mile in under 10 minutes.

My Goals for 2021

Now that you know how I plan these goals out, here are my 2021 goals. Out of privacy and respect for my relationships/self, I am not sharing all my goals, and have omitted my marriage and financial goals completely. If you like this template I used Canva for it!
